Japan and Korea have been benefitting for years from high alkaline ionized water. Did you know most drinking products in North America, water included, are acidic? That is they are below a neutral 7 PH, pop being the worst offender.
Friuts and vegatables are alkaline food, while proteins and grains are acidic to your body. Health professionals recommend eating 80% alkaline foods and 20% acid. Most people fall so short of this, hamburgers, french fries, steaks, etc.
Your blood must remain at a contant PH, between 7.35 and 7.45 (slightly alkaline) for you to stay alive and healthy. Your body traps these acidic products and stores them in fat, to protect you. Over the years the acid in your diet can make your body overly acidic, leading to acidosis.
The symptoms of acidosis are: Headache, sleepiness, confusion, Loss of consciousness, coma, seizures, weakness, diarrhea, shortness of breath, coughing, arrhythmia, increased heart rate, nausea, vomiting.
Once great way to increase the alkalinity in your body by neutralizing some of the acidic compounds is by drinking high alkaline ionized water.
The Japanese government did a study in the 50s, that examined the different areas of the world where people lived long lives, over 100 years average. There were enzyme rich foods. But they found the common denominator to be high alkaline water, around 10 PH. (above 7 is alkaline, below is acid). The water in these high mountain streams bubbles over rocks picking up oxygen and becoming alkaline.
Upon return to Japan, they set out to make a device that would bring these amazing benefits to someone who lives in a city not in the vacinity of these mountain streams. They came up with a process that separates water into two streams via electrolysis, one acid, the other alkaline.
The result is two streams, one acid and one alkaline, to varying degrees, adjustable by settings. These devices have been used in Asia for years, but are now becoming more popular in the west.
The acid water is used in Japanese hospitals to treat athletes foot, bed sores and gangrene. Although it is only water, bacteria and viruses can not survive in that low of a PH, so they die. It kills germs, but human tissue is not affected.
